Mulch & Decorative Stone

Panorama installs mulch and decorative stone with cut bed edges across Wilmington and New Castle County. Mulch is the cheapest thing you can do to make a property look maintained, and the part that actually matters is the edge: a cleanly cut, defined bed line makes an average planting look deliberate.

We install at the right depth. Too thin and weeds come through, too thick and you suffocate roots and pile mulch against trunks, which is how mature shrubs are slowly killed.

What the job includes

  • Bed edging cut by hand or machine
  • Weeding and bed cleanout before installation
  • Mulch or stone installed at correct depth
  • Careful clearance kept around trunks and stems
  • Landscape fabric under stone where appropriate
  • Hard surfaces blown clean on completion

How we build it

  1. 01

    Cut the edge

A defined bed line first. It is what makes the finished job read as sharp.

  2. 02

    Clean out

Weeds and last year's debris come out before anything new goes down.

  3. 03

    Install to depth

Two to three inches for mulch, kept off trunks and stems.

Common questions

How often should mulch be refreshed?

Once a year for most properties, usually in spring. If last year's layer is still two inches deep, you need a light top-up, not a full installation, and we will say so.

Mulch or decorative stone?

Mulch feeds soil as it breaks down and suits planted beds. Stone lasts far longer and suits drainage areas and low-planting zones, but it holds heat and is a real job to remove later.

Do I need landscape fabric?

Under stone, usually yes. Under mulch, usually no. Fabric under mulch stops the mulch from doing its job of enriching the soil and tends to surface within a couple of years.
